The Golf TDI A4, or MkIV Golf. Like the previous generation Golf, it shares its platform with the Jetta (or Bora in Europe), and also shares the A4 chassis with the New Beetle and Audi TT.
In the model years of 19995. to 2003 the Golf TDI was powered by a 1.9 liter turbocharged direct injection diesel.
Engine Specifications:
- Engine Code: ALH
- Horsepower: 90 @ 3800 RPM
- Torque: 157 lb/ft @1950 RPM
- Injection Pump Type: Rotary
The early years of the ALH engine used a timing belt that was rated for 60,000 miles. An update in 2002 pushed the change interval to 80,000 miles. Finally, in 2003 the interval was pushed to 100,000, though there is some debate as to if the components themselves, rather than the belt, can be used for that long reliably.
